Venue documents read 18 September 2026 in each venue's own documentation and terms; the order-book figures are measured, from the window below.

## What the grid shows

1. Depth separates them sixteen to one, $29.5 million resting within 10 basis points against $1.8 million — on 113 readings against 118.
2. Cost depends on the order. Resting costs 0.020% at ApeX Omni against 0.040%; crossing costs 0.045% at edgeX against 0.050%.
3. Both publish a way to withdraw straight from the chain if the operator stops answering, which is why both take full marks on custody and settlement.
4. The closed lists differ: the terms we read on 18 September 2026 shut ApeX Omni to one large market and to sanctioned territories, and edgeX to that market and to Ontario as well.

## Order-book readings taken by this site

Both BTC books were read on a ten-minute clock across the two days to 20 September 2026; the figures are medians.

| Venue | Round trip on $10,000 | Median spread | Resting within 10 bps | Impact, $100,000 | Snapshots |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| edgeX | $9.00 | 0.04 bps | $29.5 million | 0.02 bps | 113 |
| ApeX Omni | $10.00 | 0.71 bps | $1.8 million | 0.38 bps | 118 |

## edgeX — the deepest book here, on the fewest readings

Score 5.3 of 7 · Hybrid · 0.040% maker / 0.045% taker maker and taker · 172 markets · BTC 100x to $1 million · Wallet or MPC login

edgeX matches away from the chain and settles on one of its own. Balances and trades land on the
EDGE chain, which the venue describes as an application rollup on the Arbitrum technology stack,
settling through to Ethereum ([edgeX docs](https://pro.edgex.exchange/en-US/home), checked 18 September 2026). The regular tier prices a resting
order at 0.040% and a crossing at 0.045% on the USDC-margined second
version ([edgeX fee tiers](https://pro.edgex.exchange/en-US/vip), checked 18 September 2026). Its metadata endpoint returned
172 tradable contracts on 18 September 2026, 93 of them equities and one a
currency pair. CoinMarketCap published $635.5 million of open interest and
$2.5 billion of turnover over the previous day on 22 September 2026.

- In favour: $29.5 million resting within 10 basis points of the mid, the deepest book in the register; A documented route out: a holder can withdraw straight from the chain without going through the operator.
- Noted against: Its endpoint answered 113 times against 118 opposite, so its median stands on five rounds fewer; No bug bounty was found in its documentation, help centre or audit repository on 18 September 2026; Market orders on its equity contracts are rejected while the underlying market is shut.
- Not for: a trader who wants recourse worth more than the greater of $100 or three months of fees, which is where its terms cap liability.

## ApeX Omni — the cheaper resting order, behind the shorter closed list

Score 4.7 of 7 · Hybrid · 0.020% maker / 0.050% taker maker and taker · 125 markets · BTC 100x to $100,000 · Wallet, or email with a Privy wallet

ApeX Omni keeps the book and the matching engine and hands each match to zkLink: the trade runs on
a validity rollup and is proven to contracts on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain and Mantle,
which are where the deposits sit ([zkLink documentation](https://docs.zk.link/architecture/transactionflow), checked 18 September 2026).
The first tier charges
0.020% to rest and 0.050% to cross, moving only with
fourteen-day volume or staked tokens
([ApeX Omni fee tiers](https://apex-pro.gitbook.io/apex-pro/apex-omni/vip-program), checked 18 September 2026). Its public endpoint listed
125 enabled perpetual contracts on 18 September 2026, 86 on coins and 39
on shares, commodities and exchange-traded funds. CoinMarketCap published
$160.2 million of open interest on 22 September 2026.

- In favour: A resting order costs 0.020%, half of what the other column charges to rest; The shorter closed list of the two: its terms name one large market and comprehensively sanctioned territories.
- Noted against: Every crypto contract shares one margin pool, and the documentation warns a single loss can accelerate liquidations across the rest; An ordinary withdrawal can take up to four hours, and a faster one is charged for; The audits it points to cover the zkLink infrastructure from 2023, not the engine ApeX runs itself.
- Not for: an order that needs a book behind it, at $1.8 million within 10 basis points against $29.5 million opposite.

## Two ways to leave without asking

These are two of the three venues in this reference that write down a way out, Lighter being the third. edgeX tells a
holder to talk to the chain directly, check the balance and take it back without going through the
operator; ApeX Omni points at the zkLink contracts that hold the deposit and at a forced exit to
the first layer ([zkLink documentation](https://docs.zk.link/architecture/transactionflow), checked 18 September 2026). On the custody
criterion both take full marks, and the difference between their totals comes from elsewhere.

EVEDEX takes a third route: matching runs on an order book away from the chain, settlement lands on
Arbitrum, and we found no forced withdrawal written into its documentation — which is why it scores
below both columns here on custody. The
[account requirements entry](/perp-dex-account-requirements) carries its row.

## Sixteen times the depth, read on fewer rounds

The BTC books are not close. A median $29.5 million rested within 10 basis points of the mid
at edgeX against $1.8 million at ApeX Omni, and the quotes follow:
0.04 bps against 0.71 bps. Crossing with $100,000 came to
0.02 bps at edgeX and 0.38 bps at ApeX Omni; at
$1 million, 0.23 bps against 3.17 bps.

One caveat belongs beside that, and it runs against us rather than against the venue. The edgeX
endpoint answered 113 times in that series against
118 from ApeX Omni, so its median stands on a few rounds fewer. It is
still the deepest book in the register, and
[the entry for large orders](/perp-dex-for-large-orders) sets it beside the field.

## What the audits actually cover

Counting reports flatters both. edgeX publishes its audits in a repository of its own — RigSec on
the first version, then Halborn, Zellic and a Spearbit review of the second, with SlowMist on the
token and the bridge. ApeX Omni's own answer to the question points at zkLink: four ABDK reports
from 2023 on the rollup it runs on, and none on the matching and risk engine ApeX operates itself.

Neither runs a bug bounty we could find on 18 September 2026, in the documentation, the help
centre or the audit index. The public record differs too: nothing was found for ApeX Omni, while
edgeX saw its own token fall about 71 per cent on 2 June 2026 and liquidate holders of the EDGE
contracts. The venue said the protocol was not breached and offered goodwill payments capped at
100,000 USDC a head, half of it in the same token. That account comes from a news report rather
than from the venue, which is why the security criterion treats it as unconfirmed.

## What closes, and when

Neither venue keeps everything open all the time. ApeX Omni puts its shares, metals and fund
contracts in a separate account that follows the underlying session, and while that session is shut
a position cannot be opened, closed or changed. edgeX keeps its equity contracts quoted around the
clock but rejects market orders while the underlying market is closed and clamps the mark price;
its currency contracts go reduce-only from Friday evening to Sunday evening in New York. On the way
out, an ordinary ApeX Omni withdrawal can take up to four hours, and a faster one costs a fee.

## FAQ

### Is edgeX a real DEX?

It is a hybrid. The matching engine runs away from the chain, while balances and trades settle on
the EDGE chain, which edgeX describes as an application rollup on the Arbitrum technology stack.
Funds stay self-custodied, and the documentation sets out a withdrawal made straight from the chain
without the operator.

### Which is cheaper, edgeX or ApeX Omni?

It depends on the order. Resting costs 0.020% at ApeX Omni against
0.040% at edgeX, so ApeX Omni is half the price there. Crossing runs the other way at
0.045% against 0.050%, making a $10,000 round trip
$9.00 against $10.00.

### How many markets does edgeX have?

172 contracts were tradable and displayed on its second-version metadata
endpoint on 18 September 2026, out of 175 listed. ApeX Omni had 125
enabled on the same day. CoinMarketCap counted 162 and 164 on 22 September 2026, which is a different
count taken a different way.

### Are ApeX Omni's smart contracts audited?

The reports it links are four ABDK audits of zkLink from 2023, the rollup infrastructure the venue
settles on, plus an older report on the earlier ApeX core contracts. We found no audit of the
matching and risk engine ApeX operates itself, which is the part that decides an order and a
liquidation.

### Can I get my money out of edgeX if the operator stops answering?

Its documentation says a holder can interact with the chain directly to check balances and run a
withdrawal, bypassing the operator entirely. ApeX Omni documents the same idea differently, as a
forced exit to the first layer through the zkLink contracts that hold deposits. Neither route was
tested by us.

### Does edgeX have a bug bounty?

None was found on 18 September 2026 in its documentation index, its help centre or its audit
repository, and none was found for ApeX Omni either. The 200,000 USDC edgeX offered after the June
2026 token crash was for information about that episode, not a standing programme for security
reports.

### Do ApeX Omni stock perpetuals trade on weekends?

No. Its shares, metals and fund contracts sit in a separate account that follows the underlying
session and closes at weekends and on public holidays, and a position cannot be opened, closed or
changed while it is shut. edgeX keeps its equity contracts quoted but rejects market orders in the
same window.

### What leverage does edgeX allow on bitcoin?

Its metadata endpoint sets 100x while the position stays under $1 million, then 75x to $3 million,
50x to $5 million and lower steps above. ApeX Omni also prints 100x, on a 1 per cent initial margin
that holds to $100,000 before it rises. A multiple means little without the size it survives.

### Has edgeX ever had an incident?

Its own EDGE token fell about 71 per cent on 2 June 2026 in thin liquidity, liquidating holders of
the EDGE contracts on both versions of the venue. edgeX said the protocol was not breached and paid
goodwill compensation capped at 100,000 USDC a user, half in the token. The account comes from a
news report.

### Why does CoinMarketCap show different numbers from the venue?

Because the ranking republishes what each venue reports, and counts markets its own way:
$2.5 billion of turnover against $449.5 million on 22 September 2026, and 162
markets against 164. Nobody audits those figures, which is why depth read from the public book
carries the heaviest weight here.

## The making of this entry

Every entry on this site is scored by the same six criteria, fixed on 22 September 2026 before any
venue was read and published at [how we rate](/scoring-method). Fee tiers, contract counts, margin
ladders, audit records, withdrawal mechanics and closed jurisdictions were taken off each venue's
own documentation, endpoints and terms on 18 September 2026. Open interest and the turnover of
the day before are each venue's own figures, as CoinMarketCap published them on 22 September 2026.
What we read ourselves — spread, resting depth, price impact — came from both public BTC books,
read on a ten-minute clock across the two days to 20 September 2026.

The books were polled on one instrument across a single series of readings, and the two sides did
not answer the same number of times — the note beside the readings says how many stand behind each
median. Entry-tier rates leave out volume tiers, staking discounts and promotions. Custody, audit scope
and access rest on documents that can be revised without notice. Reported open interest and turnover
are unaudited. Margin is the whole of what a perpetual can cost, and the multiple decides how little it takes. Nothing here is advice.

Each venue is described from its own documentation, terms and interface, read 18 September 2026. Corrections: corrections@thekiddushclubnft.com.
